Danny Garcia (23-0, 14 KO’s) had too much youth, speed and power on Saturday night for 35-year-old former four division world champion Erik Morales (52-8, 36 KO’s) in defeating him by a 12 round unanimous decision to capture the World Boxing Council (WBC) light welterweight title at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas.

Erik Morales (52-9, 36K.O's) lost against Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 K.O's) in four rounds at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and announced that he will retire from boxing next year in Tijuana, after saying goodbye to the fans from the United States.
